Sarojini Nagar MLA Dr Rajeshwar Singh felicitated 140 Tiger Friends, forest officials, wildlife guides and drivers at Mustafabad in Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, outlining initiatives to strengthen the welfare and security of people involved in conservation.

Environment Warriors hosted the programme, marking its 10th wildlife conservation initiative in the Terai, with support from Shree Pitambara Baglamukhi Sidh Peeth Uttarakhand.

Puranpur MLA Babu Ram Paswan, Pilibhit Divisional Forest Officer Manish Singh, IFS, wildlife filmmaker Subbiah Nallamuthu, Ambika Mishra and Ranger Shailendra Kumar were present.

The ceremony included the distribution of certificates, torches and sarees to Tiger Friends.

The Forest Department received 50 raincoats and 10 first-aid kits, while guides and drivers were provided with useful equipment.

Dr Rajeshwar Singh announced that an insurance camp would be organised during Wildlife Week in October 2026.

The proposed coverage includes Rs 5 lakh in life insurance and Rs 2 lakh in medical insurance for eligible Tiger Friends. Five exceptional contributors will, however, receive Rs 25,000 each next year.

The organisers will compile biodata from eligible conservation workers to help them access suitable employment opportunities.

Dr Rajeshwar Singh promised assistance to families affected by the death of a wildlife conservation worker.

Wildlife filmmaker Subbiah Nallamuthu will make a film on Pilibhit and the Terai, subject to official approval.

The project will, however, feature the region’s wildlife, habitats, conservation work and local communities, while promoting responsible tourism and generating opportunities for rural residents.

Pilibhit DFO Manish Singh announced the upcoming Leopard Rescue Centre, which will focus on rescue, treatment, rehabilitation and scientific wildlife management.

Dr Rajeshwar Singh assured follow-up on the Rs 10 lakh government proposal for conservation and stakeholder welfare.
