‘People Of Bengal Will Get Affordable Healthcare’: PM Modi On Ayushman Bharat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the implementation of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in West Bengal, saying the people of the state would benefit from affordable and quality healthcare under the world’s largest health insurance scheme.

In a message posted on the social media platform X, PM Modi said the welfare of the people of West Bengal remained his top priority. He expressed happiness that residents would now receive access to quality medical treatment through Ayushman Bharat.

The Prime Minister also said the ‘double-engine government’ would ensure smooth implementation of major Central welfare schemes across the state.

PM Modi’s remarks came after newly sworn-in West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced several decisions during the first Cabinet meeting held at Nabanna after taking office on May 9.

Adhikari said the new government had started fulfilling its promises through key decisions aimed at strengthening governance and development in the state.

The Cabinet announced the implementation of Ayushman Bharat in West Bengal. Launched in 2018, the scheme offers cashless treatment coverage of up to ₹5 lakh annually for vulnerable families.

The government also approved land transfer to the Border Security Force for border fencing work, increased the upper age limit for state job applicants by five years, and cleared the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Census.

It further announced welfare measures for 321 families affected by political violence and removed hurdles in implementing Central schemes such as PM Vishwakarma, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and PM Ujjwala 3.0.
