‘Papa, Save Me’: Techie’s Final Call Before Drowning In Noida Accident

A tragic accident in Noida’s Sector-150 resulted in the death of a young software engineer after his car broke through a damaged boundary wall and plunged into a water-filled construction pit late at night.

The deceased has been identified as Yuvraj Mehta, a resident of Bihar’s Sitamarhi district, who was working with Dunnhumby in Gurugram.

Recounting the painful moments, Yuvraj’s father Rajkumar Mehta said his son called him immediately after the accident, crying for help.

“He said, ‘Papa, save me. I have fallen into a drain’,” he recalled.

Rajkumar rushed to the area but struggled to locate the exact spot due to fog and lack of visibility.

With the help of locals, police and rescue teams were eventually alerted.

According to the family, Yuvraj remained alive for nearly two hours after the crash. He reportedly climbed onto the roof of his partially submerged car, switched on his mobile phone’s flashlight and repeatedly shouted for help.

However, the absence of proper rescue equipment and difficult conditions delayed rescue efforts.

Teams from the local police, fire brigade, SDRF and NDRF conducted a prolonged rescue operation lasting over four hours.

Dense fog, darkness, freezing water and under-construction pillars inside the pit severely hampered the operation.

Even a local delivery agent who bravely entered the water with a rope failed to locate him in time.

The family and local residents have accused the Noida Authority of negligence, alleging the site lacked barricading, warning signs and adequate lighting.

Authorities are yet to issue a detailed response, even as calls for accountability and improved infrastructure safety continue to grow.
