BJP National Working President Nitin Nabin will submit his nomination for the party’s national president at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi on Monday, and the event will showcase a strong display of unity among the party leadership.
According to the election programme announced by the BJP National Returning Officer and Rajya Sabha MP K Laxman, the party will accept nominations between 2 PM and 4 PM at the BJP headquarters.
The party will conduct scrutiny of nomination papers from 4 PM to 5 PM, followed by a withdrawal window from 5 PM to 6 PM.
If more than one valid nomination remains after withdrawals, the BJP will hold polling on January 20 and announce the name of the new national president the same day.
Several BJP Chief Ministers, state unit presidents, Members of Parliament and senior office-bearers are expected to attend the nomination filing, turning it into a major political gathering.
Party leaders believe the turnout will showcase organisational cohesion and strength as the BJP moves towards an important leadership transition.
The BJP will elect its national president through an electoral college comprising representatives from its national and state councils, with nominees required to meet strict eligibility criteria under the party constitution.
Senior BJP leader Nitin Nabin, who has represented the Bankipur Assembly constituency and won four consecutive elections, continues to enjoy strong organisational backing.
Son of late leader Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, he entered politics after his father’s demise and built his stature through sustained grassroots work.
His decisive victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections will further strengthen his position within the party.
