Pakistani troops opened fire without provocation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector on Tuesday, official sources confirmed.
The Indian Army responded effectively in the Krishna Ghati sector. The exchange of fire lasted around 15 minutes. No casualties were reported.
This marks the first ceasefire violation since India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7. That operation came in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, where Pakistan-linked terrorists killed 26 civilians at Baisaran meadow.
The last ceasefire breach had occurred in May during an intense military exchange.
On May 9, Pakistan Rangers fired on Border Security Force (BSF) posts along the International Border in Jammu late at night.
The BSF acted swiftly on May 10, inflicting heavy damage on Pakistani posts.
“BSF responded in a commensurate manner, causing widespread damage to Pakistan Rangers’ assets across the border,” the BSF’s Jammu division stated.
Earlier, Operation Sindoor successfully hit nine terror bases across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Following the strikes, Pakistan tried to retaliate using drones and missiles.
However, the conflict ended on May 10 after the Pakistani Director General of Military Operations contacted his Indian counterpart.
