Pahalgam Terror Attack A Matter Of Past, Tourism In J&K Bouncing Back: Omar Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that there is an air of optimism about the revival of tourism in the state after the Pahalgam terror attack, which left 26 people dead, most of them tourists.

Speaking at a tourism and travel event in Kolkata, Abdullah said 2025 was not easy considering the Pahalgam terror attack. However, he expressed relief over the ‘bouncing back’ of tourism in the valley.

The Chief Minister assured that the government has taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of tourists there. He further added that his assurance can be vouched for by the tourists who visited and returned from Pahalgam recently.

CM Abdullah noted that there has been a surge in the number of flights to Jammu and Kashmir after the commencement of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.

The National Conference Vice President thanked the Mamta government and the people of West Bengal for standing in solidarity with the People of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The people of West Bengal have always been with us. Our relationship goes a long way, and the basis of this relationship is trust and affection. West Bengal had always stood beside Jammu and Kashmir both politically and economically,” he said.

Abdullah to meet Mamta Banerjee

Later today, CM Abdullah will likely meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee at the state secretariat of Nabanna.

He praised the decision of the Trinamool Congress to send a five-member delegation to review the situation in Jammu and Kashmir following the Pahalgam tragedy.

The delegates also held a meeting with Omar Abdullah at his official residence in Srinagar.

The dastardly attack at Pahalgam claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians, mostly tourists.

Operating from Pakistan, the Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, carried out the cowardly attack, killing people after identifying their religion.
