The Government of India on Monday stated that over 3.5 lakh domestic and commercial piped natural gas (PNG) connections have been issued during the first three weeks of March. The expansion, driven by city gas distribution entities, reflects efforts to strengthen clean energy access.
Authorities confirmed that domestic LPG cylinder deliveries remain stable, with a noticeable decline in panic bookings.
Officials continue to monitor supply closely amid prevailing geopolitical developments, ensuring uninterrupted availability. No instances of supply shortages have been reported at distributorships.
The government has restored 20 per cent supply of commercial LPG and proposed an additional 10 per cent allocation to states and Union Territories based on reforms supporting PNG expansion.
Domestic LPG production has increased compared to pre-crisis levels, supported by refineries operating at high capacity with adequate crude reserves.
Oil Marketing Companies reported no fuel shortages at retail outlets, maintaining regular supplies of petrol and diesel.
Citizens have been advised against panic purchasing, as sufficient stocks remain available.
Priority sectors continue to receive full supply, including domestic PNG users and CNG transport services.
Industrial and commercial consumers are receiving approximately 80 per cent of the supply.
City Gas Distribution entities have been directed to prioritise PNG connections for commercial establishments.
Incentives are being offered by companies such as IGL, MGL, GAIL Gas, and BPCL to encourage the transition from LPG to PNG in urban areas.
The government has directed states, Union Territories, and central ministries to fast-track approvals for PNG infrastructure expansion.
It has also asked them to assess demand and appoint nodal officers to ensure smooth coordination and execution.
