Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday described ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a powerful new form of justice, following a swift and fierce retaliation against terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Speaking from Bikaner, PM Modi praised the Indian security forces for neutralising nine of the most notorious terror dens within just 22 minutes of the April 22 terror attack, underscoring the government’s commitment to robust and timely responses.
A Three-Pronged Formula To Combat Terror
During his address, PM Modi unveiled a three-pronged strategy for tackling terrorism in India.
- First, he emphasised that any terror attack on Indian soil will be met with a carefully planned, decisive response where the armed forces determine the target, timing, and method of retaliation. This principle highlights India’s readiness and operational autonomy to deal firmly with threats.
- Second, PM Modi dismissed any attempt to intimidate India through threats of nuclear blackmail, affirming that such tactics would not deter the nation’s resolve.
- Third, he declared that India will judge terrorists, their masterminds, and the governments backing them by a unified and stringent standard.
Furthermore, PM Modi pointedly remarked that India will no longer accept Pakistan’s use of state and non-state actors as an excuse to openly support terrorism.
Addressing the nation with a stern warning, PM Modi said, “Those who went after our sisters and tried to wipe their sindoor, we have razed them to the ground. This is a new form of justice — ‘yeh Operation Sindoor hai’.’’
His words conveyed a deeply symbolic message, linking the operation’s name to the resolve to protect India’s honour and dignity.
PM Modi also highlighted that while the forces previously targeted enemy territory, this operation struck ‘at their heart,’ signalling a new era of proactive and assertive action against terror threats.
A United Nation Against Terror
The Prime Minister acknowledged the unity of India’s 140 crore citizens following the Pahalgam terror attack, praising the collective resolve to punish terrorists beyond all expectations.
He credited the full operational freedom granted to the armed forces for the successful strikes that brought Pakistan ‘to its knees’, and warned adversaries that India will no longer remain silent in the face of provocation.
‘Operation Sindoor’ reflects the emergence of ‘New Bharat’ – a nation determined to protect its sovereignty through swift justice and unwavering resolve.
The government’s new doctrine promises stronger retaliation policies and an unyielding stand against terror and its patrons, signalling a future where terror will face uncompromising opposition at every turn.
