Munfed and Saikul, individuals accused of involvement in the Nuh violence, were apprehended on Thursday from Silkho village in Tawdu town within the Haryana district. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the arrests were the result of a confrontation. During the operation, an illegal locally-made firearm known as a ‘katta’ and a motorcycle were seized from the suspects.
The tumultuous events unfolded in Nuh, a predominantly Muslim area, where clashes erupted during an attack on a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) procession called the Braj Mandal Yatra on July 31. This incident led to the tragic deaths of six individuals, including two home guards and a religious leader. Gurugram, too, witnessed sporadic incidents of violence during this period.
To foster unity among various communities, a ‘mahapanchayat’ was organized in Baas village, situated in Hisar district. The event drew participants from diverse faiths, agricultural associations, and traditional councils. Under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Mazdoor Union, Hindus, Muslims, and Sikhs joined hands, resolving to strengthen the bonds between their communities.
A resolution adopted during the meeting urged the government to conduct an impartial investigation into the matter and swiftly apprehend those responsible. The resolution also stressed the necessity of taking immediate action against individuals disseminating provocative content on social media to incite riots. The participants collectively affirmed their commitment to restoring peace in the Mewat region.

Organizer Suresh Koth, a member of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha, emphasized that Haryana’s soil would not be utilized to divide people along lines of caste and religion. He condemned reported instances of village panchayat leaders in Mahendergarh, Rewari, and Jhajjar districts issuing “bans” on Muslim traders from their respective areas.
Within the gathering, some speakers from the Muslim community highlighted the significance of drawing lessons from the Mahabharata and Ramayana epics. They underscored the importance of mutual respect, love, and collaboration among various communities, emphasizing the lack of room for hatred in society.
