National Security Advisor Ajit Doval spoke at the 4th annual meeting of the security chiefs of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral
Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). Delivering India’s statement Doval on Friday urged the BIMSTEC nations to strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism; combating drug trafficking, arms smuggling and organised crime.
Doval led the Indian delegation to Myanmarese capital.
“NSA delivered India’s national statement at BIMSTEC meet. He spoke on strengthening cooperation in counter-terrorism; combating drug trafficking, arms smuggling and organised crime; BIMSTEC connectivity; holding 2nd Ports Conclave; and water security of Himalayan river systems,” the Embassy of India in Myanmar said in a post on X

The purpose of the gathering is to plan and coordinate actions that are essential to tackling the shared security concerns that member states face.
Doval had met Admiral Moe Aung of Myanmar earlier on Thursday. He paid a visit to Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, together with other security heads from BIMSTEC.
Doval traveled to this place on Thursday from Hanoi, where he attended the state funeral of Nguyen Phu Trong, the general secretary of the Communist Party in power in Vietnam, who passed away this past week. While there, he also sent the leadership of that nation India’s condolences.
