According to earlier reports from the police, the 21-year-old tribal woman’s husband allegedly had her stripped naked and paraded through a community in the Pratapgarh area.
Woman paraded naked
The Rajasthan government and the state’s police chief have received a notification from the National Human Rights Commission about allegations that a pregnant woman’s husband paraded her naked around a village in the Pratapgarh district.
In a statement released on Monday, the Commission said that it was interested in learning more about the woman’s health and any compensation the administration may have given her.
After a video of the event appeared online, authorities earlier said that the 21-year-old tribal lady had been paraded through a village in the Pratapgarh district while she was reportedly stripped naked by her husband.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took “suo motu cognizance of a media report that a pregnant woman was allegedly beaten up and paraded naked in the village by her family members in Pratapgarh district of Rajasthan on August 31”
Notice issued and report demanded by the panel
It said that a video of the event gained widespread distribution on social media.
The Commission has noted that, if accurate, the media report’s contents raise significant concerns about the victim’s human rights having been violated. It stated that as a result, notice has been sent to the chief secretary and the director general of police in Rajasthan asking for a thorough report within four weeks.

The rights panel ruled that the report should include an outline of the steps taken to punish the offenders and the current state of the inquiry into the incident.
The woman reportedly went to a nearby village with a male, whereupon her family members hauled her back and subjected her to cruel treatment. This was according to a media story that was published on September 2. The report said that despite her repeated cries for assistance, others instead opted to record footage of her.
