The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Wednesday emphasised the critical role of the northeastern region in achieving India’s Rs 30-trillion economic vision by 2047.
Replying to a post by Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya Scindia, the PMO remarked, “Northeast India is no longer a frontier, it’s the front-runner.”
The PMO also urged readers to explore Scindia’s detailed write-up, saying, “Union Minister Shri @JM_Scindia pens down a detailed article on the region’s rise as a strategic hub for trade, connectivity, and India’s $30-trillion vision for Viksit Bharat. Give it a glance!”

In his post, Scindia highlighted the region’s growing prominence, stating, “Northeast holds key to a $30-trillion economy. I pen down my article on how the Northeast is transforming into India’s strategic gateway to Southeast Asia — powering trade, connectivity, and our $30-trillion ambition towards a Viksit Bharat.”

Addressing the recently held ‘Rising North East Investors Summit 2025′, Scindia said the region had emerged as a key centre for global collaboration and mutual interests.
He noted that the summit received investment proposals worth Rs 4.3 lakh crore, marking a significant milestone in the Northeast’s journey toward becoming India’s next economic hub.
“We will continue B2G and B2B dialogues, where the Ministry for DoNER will act as a bridge between investors and state governments — to ensure that each approved project translates swiftly into reality,” Scindia asserted.
Global Participation Signals Northeast’s Central Role
The summit attracted delegations from over 80 countries, including Japan, several European nations, and ASEAN members, all unified in their outlook that the Northeast is central to India’s future.
In a push to accelerate regional development, the central government has, however, launched a ‘whole-of-government’ strategy, forming eight specialised task forces focusing on agriculture, sports, investment promotion, tourism, economic corridors, infrastructure, textiles and handicrafts, and animal husbandry.
Each state has been empowered to create its own sectoral roadmap.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also reiterated that the Northeast now boasts skilled professionals across multiple sectors and urged industries and investors to tap into the region’s growing capabilities.
