Growing political chatter in Bihar prompted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to clarify his position before party colleagues.
During a meeting at his Patna residence, the leader assured members of the Janata Dal (United) that his plan to contest the Rajya Sabha elections would not weaken the party or disturb governance in the state.
Kumar told party legislators and office-bearers that he would continue to remain actively engaged in both state and national politics.
He emphasised that administrative work in Bihar would proceed without interruption.
The Chief Minister urged party workers to dismiss concerns and continue organisational efforts with confidence.
His decision to seek a seat in the Upper House sparked intense political debate across Bihar.
Some party workers reportedly expressed dissatisfaction and even suspected hidden political motives behind the move.
Kumar rejected such claims and stated clearly that he made the decision independently and without external pressure.
Senior leaders of the party attended the meeting, including Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly, and Members of Legislative Council.
The gathering aimed to reassure the leadership and maintain unity within the organisation.
Rajiv Ranjan Singh, popularly known as Lalan Singh and a Union Minister, defended Kumar’s decision during the discussion.
He stated that anyone familiar with Kumar’s political functioning would understand that he never acts under compulsion.
Singh further remarked that Kumar himself would decide the next Chief Minister of Bihar when the time arrives.
Another key development emerged during the meeting. Kumar approved the political entry of his son, Nishant Kumar, into the party.
According to party spokesperson Neeraj Kumar, JD-U workers had urged Nishant for several years to take an active political role.
Nishant Kumar is expected to formally join the party on Saturday. Party leaders said he will soon undertake a Bihar-wide outreach programme to strengthen the organisation.
Political analysts believe his entry could influence the future leadership structure of the JD-U. Observers note that Bihar’s political environment is undergoing significant shifts, making the development particularly noteworthy.
