Nitish Kumar Chairs Final Bihar Cabinet Meeting; Signals Resignation And Government Dissolution

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar chaired the final Bihar Cabinet meeting in Patna on Tuesday at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, marking a key moment in the state’s political transition. He led a 20-minute meeting attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with ministers from all departments.

During the session, Nitish Kumar informed his cabinet colleagues of his decision to resign, clearing the way for the dissolution of the government.

The Cabinet approved the dissolution proposal unanimously, enabling constitutional procedures to move forward smoothly.

The meeting carried strong emotional weight as it marked the end of Nitish Kumar’s tenure.

Ministers described the atmosphere as solemn, and Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav said the Chief Minister thanked officials, leaders, and colleagues for their support.

Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha reflected on the government’s journey and achievements, though they did not disclose detailed discussions.

Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar attended an event at the Patna High Court to mark the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar, where he paid floral tributes alongside senior leaders.

A swarm of bees briefly disrupted the event, causing panic and minor injuries before authorities restored order.

Senior leader Sanjay Jha praised Nitish Kumar’s leadership, saying Bihar gained dignity and a distinct identity under his governance.

The meeting now stands as a symbolic moment marking the end of an era and the start of a formal political transition in the state.
