Nirbhaya's mother speaks on Swati Maliwal case
In a recent development, the Chief Minister has broken his silence on the assault case involving his party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, which took place at the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Amidst this, Nirbhaya’s mother has directed an appeal to CM Kejriwal, advocating for justice for Swati Maliwal.
Expressing her sentiments to news agency IANS, Nirbhaya’s mother, Asha Devi, emphasized, “It’s imperative for him (Arvind Kejriwal) to act decisively in this matter, given his role as the CM of Delhi and the trust reposed in him by the public. As he often refers to himself and his administration as the brothers and sons of Delhi, it’s time for him to act as such. Whoever is at fault must face the consequences.”

She continued, “Kejriwal should extend his support to Swati Maliwal, considering her relentless dedication to women’s causes over the past 8-10 years. Countless women have benefitted from her efforts. I’ve personally witnessed her commitment. Kejriwal must ensure justice prevails in this case.”
The altercation occurred on May 13, when Swati Maliwal alleged that Kejriwal’s Private Secretary (PS) Bibhav Kumar assaulted her during her visit to the Chief Minister’s residence. Subsequently, she filed a police complaint, leading to the arrest of PS Bibhav Kumar. In response, Bibhav Kumar has also lodged a police complaint against Swati Maliwal. Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party asserts that Maliwal’s actions were orchestrated at the behest of the BJP.
