Social media users mocked Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir after he presented a painting, allegedly portraying a military victory over India, that closely resembles an old Chinese military drill image.
General Munir gifted the framed painting to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at a high-profile dinner meant to honor Pakistan’s political leadership, armed forces, and the people’s ‘indomitable spirit’ during ‘Marka-e-Haq – Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos’.
Online Sleuths Identify Chinese Origin Of Painting
Soon after images from the event circulated online, users on platform X pointed out that the painting matched visuals from a four-year-old Chinese military exercise by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
They accused Pakistan of using publicly available Chinese images to build a false narrative of military success.
One user wrote, “The Pakistan Army Chief gifted PM Sharif an old Chinese military photo to showcase a supposed victory. This isn’t just fake propaganda — it’s fake imagery too.”
Another added, “They couldn’t even create original visuals for their own military operation.”
Fake Visuals, Fake Claims?
Instagram users also joined in the mockery, with one post stating, “PM Shehbaz Sharif receives a Google-sourced Chinese photo of a PHL-03 rocket launcher as a gift from Field Marshal Munir.”
The backlash has sparked fresh doubts about the authenticity of Pakistan’s Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos and the legitimacy of Munir’s promotion to Field Marshal, a rank usually reserved for proven wartime victories.
Netizens Mock Pakistan’s Promotion
Observers noted that Pakistan has not achieved any clear military success.
In fact, India’s Operation Sindoor reportedly inflicted damage on Pakistani airbases and intercepted nearly all drones and missiles launched in retaliation.
Despite this, Pakistani leadership presented Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos as a national triumph at the event.
The Pakistani military and government have yet to respond to the viral criticism. Meanwhile, the internet continues to mock the leadership for using recycled images to support a questionable military narrative.
