NCMEI Meet To Spotlight Minority Educational Institutions As Pillars Of India’s Growth Vision

The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI), in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Minority Welfare, Waqf, and Hajj Department, will host a national conference in Lucknow on Wednesday, 28 January 2026.

The event will focus on the theme, ‘Role of Minority Educational Institutions in Unity, Cultural Diversity and Nation Building: Viksit Bharat @ 2047’.

The conference will be held at the Chaudhary Charan Singh Sabhaghar and is designed to connect the work of minority educational institutions with India’s broader development goals. Organisers aim to create a forum that encourages dialogue between policymakers, educators, and community leaders.

Dr Indresh Kumar, Margdarshak of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch, will preside over the event and bring a national perspective to the proceedings. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Minority Welfare, Shri Danish Azad Ansari, will attend as the chief guest and reiterate the state government’s commitment to strengthening minority education.

Ahead of the conference, Ansari emphasised that minority educational institutions play a vital role in shaping a balanced and progressive society, as they go beyond conventional teaching to promote social cohesion.

NCMEI’s Perspective on Reform and Integration

Professor (Dr) Shahid Akhter, Member and officiating Chairman of the NCMEI, will be a key voice at the conference. He has highlighted the need to protect the constitutional rights of minority institutions while encouraging them to actively support national development priorities.

“Autonomy and national integration are not mutually exclusive. Our institutions must excel in education and innovation to directly contribute to the Viksit Bharat 2047 mission,” he asserted.

Professor Naima Khatoon, Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, will participate as a special guest and add academic depth to the event. Her involvement will underscore how established minority institutions continue to nurture talent across fields such as science, technology, administration, and public service.

Furthermore, speakers from diverse backgrounds will lead the conference to prioritise actionable strategies over theoretical discussion. In particular, deliberations will centre on best practices, policy suggestions, and collaborative approaches to strengthen the contribution of minority institutions.

The Lucknow conference aims to reinforce the idea that minority educational institutions are essential partners in India’s journey towards unity, cultural vitality, and inclusive development by 2047.
