The National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party have voiced their opposition to the prosecution sanction against author Arundhati Roy and a former professor from Kashmir under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for allegedly delivering provocative speeches at an event in Delhi in 2010.
Officials report that the First Information Report (FIR) against Roy and former Central University of Kashmir professor Sheikh Showkat Hussain was filed in compliance with orders from the Court of Metropolitan Magistrate, New Delhi.
