Bokaro
In a shocking incident in Bokaro, Sukhram Manjhi (40), a former ward member of the Naxal-affected Chutte Panchayat in the Chatrochatti police station area of Gomiya block, was brutally murdered by CPI-Maoist Naxalites who slit his throat with a sharp weapon on Tuesday night. The perpetrators, numbering around eight, left threatening pamphlets at the crime scene, warning of death for those providing information to the police.
The gruesome incident occurred near an under-construction water tank close to Sukhram Manjhi’s residence. Despite the severity of the crime, neither villagers nor the police-administration team reached the spot on the night of the incident, raising concerns in the community.
Approximately 15 hours later, the police arrived at the scene around 11:30 on Wednesday, conducted the necessary Panchnama, and sent the body to Tenughat for post-mortem. The police explained their delayed response by citing security concerns that deemed it unsafe to approach the area at night.
Saraswati Devi, the wife of the deceased, shared that her husband operated a small ration shop in Danra Mod. Every night at 8 pm, after closing the shop, he would visit another house located a kilometer away. The tragic news was conveyed to Saraswati by Dhaneshwar Singh, the guard of the under-construction tank, around 8 pm on Tuesday night. Upon reaching the spot, she discovered her husband’s lifeless body beside the tank.
