Nawab Malik, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) nominee for Mankhurd-Shivajinagar and former minister, has requested the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) not to campaign on his behalf. This statement follows the BJP’s announcement that it would refrain from supporting him in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls.
comment of Nawab Malik comes after BJP leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Mumbai unit chief Ashish Shelar, expressed their stance on Malik’s associations. They clearly stated their position regarding Dawood Ibrahim and those connected to him.

“Don’t campaign for me. I do not insist,” Malik said. He emphasized that he is representing the NCP and does not require BJP support. He also threatened legal action against anyone linking him to the underworld figure, Dawood Ibrahim.
“I will take legal action against those who accuse me of being associated with Dawood. These are baseless allegations related to money laundering,” Malik asserted. He vowed to challenge such claims in court, regardless of the status of those making the accusations.
Malik further noted that some media outlets had reported on his alleged connections to Dawood but have since ceased to do so.
When asked about his dual nominations—one as an NCP candidate and another as an independent—Malik clarified, “You have to understand the legal process. No one can withdraw the nomination now. That right is mine.” He affirmed that the NCP has shown trust in him by providing an AB form, and despite BJP opposition, he plans to contest as an NCP candidate.
Malik, previously the legislator from Anushaktinagar, has now shifted his focus to Mankhurd-Shivajinagar. Meanwhile, his daughter, Sana Malik, has been nominated by the NCP for the Anushaktinagar seat.
