On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met teachers who received the National Teachers’ Awards, with the interaction covering classroom innovation, technology and ways to help students become more confident.
The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, where the awardees spoke about their experiences and approaches to making education more engaging. They shared examples of initiatives they have undertaken beyond regular classroom teaching, including work for their local communities.
PM Modi asked one of the teachers about her approach to helping students overcome hesitation and develop public-speaking skills. She stressed the importance of confidence but jokingly told the Prime Minister that she felt nervous because of his ‘aura’. The exchange prompted a light-hearted response from PM Modi.
The Prime Minister spoke to a teacher involved in raising awareness about breast cancer.
Recalling his time as the Member of Parliament from Varanasi, PM Modi referred to efforts to improve awareness of the disease and encourage people to undergo regular health check-ups.
During the interaction, the teachers discussed the use of new technologies and changing teaching methods to address the needs of younger students.
PM Modi appreciated their commitment and highlighted the impact educators can have on students and society.
The National Teachers’ Awards are presented to recognise educators for their dedication and contribution to school education.
On Teachers’ Day, observed on September 5, President Droupadi Murmu will confer the awards on 48 school teachers at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
