Organisers launched a national awareness campaign against female foeticide on Tuesday at the Dr BR Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, New Delhi.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness about daughters’ safety, equality, and empowerment. Social activists, politicians, and NGO representatives from across India attended the event to support the initiative.
The chief guest, Mamata Mohanta, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chairperson of the GOADH Foundation, addressed the gathering.
She highlighted the importance of women’s dignity. She also emphasised the protection of girls and the promotion of gender equality.
Mamata Mohanta emphasised the urgent need to tackle female foeticide and ensure every girl child receives education, respect, and equal opportunities to become self-reliant.
She elaborated that the GOADH Foundation has launched a national mission dedicated to preventing female foeticide and empowering girls.
The campaign aims to reach every daughter in the country, providing her with education, recognition, and a platform to thrive. Through nationwide awareness programs, the foundation is committed to saving and strengthening the lives of young girls.
Protect and Empower
Prominent figures attended the event, including Poongulety Sudhakar Reddy, BJP National Co-Incharge for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
P Balaram Naik, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), was also present. Dhullu Mahto, Member of Parliament (Dhanbad), and Prof Dr Geeta Singh, Director of Delhi University, participated as well.
Social workers and NGO representatives from across the nation also participated in the program, reinforcing a collective commitment to ending gender-based discrimination.
The event officially launched the campaign against female foeticide. Participants took a collective pledge to protect daughters and uphold equal rights.
Organisers also announced school and college outreach drives to spread awareness at the grassroots level.
Through initiatives like this, India is taking a strong stand against female foeticide and promoting gender equality, education, and women’s empowerment.
By engaging communities, institutions, and policymakers, the campaign aims to instil a sense of responsibility and social consciousness, ensuring that every girl child grows up safe, educated, and empowered.
