Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a pointed swipe at the Opposition while outlining the economic gains of India’s Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC). He invoked the phrase ‘naraz fufa ji’, or ‘annoyed uncle’, to mock concerns that faster freight trains could undermine truck operators.
While describing double-stack container trains between JNT Port in Mumbai and Vadodara, PM Modi said one train could carry cargo equivalent to more than 250 trucks. He argued that rail freight would strengthen logistics without replacing road transport, allowing trucks to serve other requirements.
Prime Minister Modi dedicated the final major sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) in Vadodara, completing India’s DFC network.
The three sections span 326 route kilometres and cost more than Rs 20,700 crore.
The network separates freight from passenger traffic, expands cargo capacity and cuts transit times. He said critics could spread ‘jooth ki goonj’, or ‘echo of lies’, while India’s youth advance with the ‘sach ki hunkar’, or ‘call of truth’. He linked this outlook to renewable energy and emerging industries.
PM Modi said India has developed over 200 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity.
Under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, 55 lakh families have installed rooftop solar systems, including 11 lakh in Gujarat.
PM Modi connected renewable expansion with employment and said India was securing uranium, critical minerals and rare earth supplies.
Prime Minister Modi stressed AI skills alongside formal degrees, free online coaching for competitive examinations and a major AI-skilling campaign. He said AI could transform agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing and robotics.
The Vadodara programme covered projects worth over Rs 35,000 crore across railways, highways, housing, water, urban development and renewable energy.
