RSS Executive Member and Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) guide, Indresh Kumar, criticized the India Alliance, Mamata Banerjee, and supporters of Muslim reservation, accusing them of spreading division for the sake of Muslim votes. He compared these actions to those of traitors responsible for the partition of India. Indresh Kumar made these remarks during a meeting of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch in New Delhi, attended by numerous Ulemas, Muftis, intellectuals, youth, women, and representatives from various Muslim sects. The event, held at the India Islamic Center, focused on the theme, “Conspiracy of Religious Reservation or Religious Frenzy?”
Indresh Kumar argued that such appeasement would lead to national division rather than unity. He recalled that during the drafting of the Constitution in 1949, leaders including Pandit Nehru opposed religious-based reservations due to the traumatic partition of India, which resulted in significant bloodshed and displacement. He held the Congress responsible for this tragedy.
Kumar accused Congress of undermining the Constitution and democracy since independence. He highlighted that in 1950, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s policies, such as granting Jammu and Kashmir a separate constitution and citizenship, were severe blows to the national unity. He credited the BJP, NDA government, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for achieving “one constitution, one flag, and one citizenship” on August 5, 2019. He also criticized Indira Gandhi’s imposition of the Emergency in 1975 as an attack on democracy, commending the BJP and RSS members who resisted it.
Indresh Kumar questioned the rationale behind Muslim reservations, warning that it could trigger demands for similar concessions from other religious communities, leading to national disintegration. He accused Congress and the Indi Alliance of fostering societal division and inciting hatred and riots.
Kumar criticized Mamata Banerjee for defying a Kolkata High Court order, asserting that such actions reflect a disregard for the Constitution and judiciary. He warned that her dictatorial attitude threatens national unity and safety.
Indresh Kumar stated that economic reservation is acceptable alongside caste-based reservation, but religious reservation undermines the existing SC, ST, and OBC quotas. He pointed out that the current reservation system already benefits these communities and questioned the impact of religious reservations on these quotas, demanding an explanation from the Indi Alliance.
At the conclusion of the program, participants affirmed their allegiance to India, denouncing religious reservation as a ploy to manipulate Muslims. They pledged to raise awareness and reject Congress and its allies’ divisive tactics, viewing them as threats to the Constitution and national unity.
