The Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) on Tuesday issued a scathing condemnation of the violent incidents that erupted in Murshidabad and South 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal amid protests against the Waqf Amendment Act.
The Manch declared in a public release that while protest is a democratic right, violence amounts to treason and poses a threat to the nation’s integrity and peace.
The Manch held West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee directly responsible for the unrest, accusing her of allowing extremists to operate unchecked.
It also criticized the silence of the opposition INDIA bloc and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, calling it politically motivated and morally indefensible.
A State Gripped By Fear
The situation in several parts of Bengal has become dire, the Manch noted, with reports of Hindu families abandoning their homes and taking shelter in Malda district due to fear.
Schools have shut down, vendors have closed markets, and violence has disrupted daily life.
The Manch described the events as a ‘pre-planned conspiracy’ and a failure of the state machinery to protect its people.
Call For President’s Rule
The Manch backed calls for President’s Rule in Bengal, citing law and order collapse.
It appealed to the Central Government, the Home Ministry, and the National Human Rights Commission to intervene immediately.
‘Treason In The Name Of Protest’
The Manch reaffirmed the democratic right to protest but clarified that it would not tolerate acts like arson, murder, and vandalism.
“Stone-pelting and destruction of public property are not tools of democracy; they are crimes against the nation,” the Manch stated.
Political & Administrative Accountability
The Manch raised serious questions about Mamata Banerjee’s role, alleging that police and administration remained passive.
It contrasted Bengal’s violence with the peace maintained in other states over the Waqf issue, concluding that the scale of unrest in Bengal pointed to administrative complicity.
The Manch accused INDIA bloc leaders of ignoring Hindu suffering and staying silent for political gain.
A Conspiracy Of Vote-Bank Politics
The MRM accused extremist groups of orchestrating the violence to polarize voters.
“Innocents were used as shields to spread communal hatred. Such acts damage India’s global image,” it said, demanding strict punishment for those behind the conspiracy.
Appeal For Peace & Justice
The Manch welcomed judicial directions from the Supreme Court and Calcutta High Court to deploy central forces in sensitive areas.
It urged a judicial probe into the state government’s role, stressing national security over vote-bank politics.
In its concluding message, the Manch appealed to Muslims to uphold the true message of Islam-peace. “Do not fall prey to anti-national propaganda. Violence serves no religion, it only serves terror,” the Manch
