Mumbai Police is investigating a threatening message directed at actor Salman Khan, allegedly originating from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Salman Khan

On Tuesday, Mumbai Police is investigating a threatening message directed at Bollywood actor Salman Khan, allegedly originating from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The message, received via WhatsApp, reportedly offers the actor two chilling options: apologize or pay a ransom of Rs 5 crore to ensure his safety.

According to police sources, the threat was received by the Mumbai Police Traffic Control Room late Monday night.

The message stated that if Khan wished to remain alive, he should either visit a designated temple to apologize or remit the substantial sum.

It further warned that “If he does not do so, we will kill him, our gang is still active.”

This latest threat marks the second time within a week that Salman Khan has faced such alarming warnings.

Just days earlier, another message was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police Control, demanding Rs 2 crore for the actor’s safety.

On 30 October, the Mumbai Police asserted, “On Tuesday, Mumbai Traffic Police Control received a message in which an unknown person threatened, the message sender demanded 2 crore rupees.”

In that earlier communication, the sender issued similar threats, asserting that if Khan did not meet their demands, they would take lethal action against him.

“In the message, the unknown sender said that if he (Salman Khan) does not get the money then he will kill Salman Khan,” the police added

Following the receipt of both messages, the Worli Police Station has begun the process of registering formal complaints and tracking the phone number used to send the threats.

Police Investigate Threatening Communications Against Salman Khan

Police have confirmed that investigations are underway, aiming to identify the individuals behind these menacing communications.

This recent wave of threats follows the arrest of a man from Jamshedpur who had previously threatened Salman Khan in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore.

The police are treating these incidents with utmost seriousness, particularly in light of the heightened tensions following the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique on 12 October.

Assailants shot dead Baba Siddique, a prominent figure in Maharashtra politics, near his son’s office in Mumbai, raising concerns about the rising influence of gang violence in the region.

As a precaution, authorities have ramped up security measures around high-profile individuals, including Khan, to ensure their safety amid these threats.

On 21 October, the same sender who initially threatened Khan apologized to the police, claiming that they had ‘sent the message by mistake’.

However, the latest threats have reignited fears of gang-related violence targeting Bollywood celebrities, prompting the Mumbai Police to bolster their protective measures and investigation efforts.
