A ferry carrying 38 people developed a technical fault in the Arabian Sea near Mumbai’s Gateway of India on Thursday evening, leading to a rescue operation by the authorities and another ferry.
The Anwari ferry, which operates short sea trips from the Gateway of India, experienced the problem at around 08:30 PM while travelling back towards the jetty. It became stranded around 1.5 nautical miles from the Gateway of India, with 34 passengers and four crew members on board.
