Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav convened a virtual meeting with the Mayors of all 16 municipal corporations, Municipal Commissioners, District Collectors, and other key officials.
The meeting follows the recent contaminated water incident in Indore. The incident caused several deaths and left over 200 people under medical care.
Latest reports indicate that 27 patients remain in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), while the others are receiving treatment in various hospitals. Authorities also confirmed that over 1,400 people in Bhagirathpura suffered vomiting and diarrhoea over the past nine days due to contaminated drinking water.
Chief Minister Yadav stated on X that the government has taken stern action against those responsible for the Indore tragedy. He added that corrective measures are being implemented across the state to prevent similar incidents.

CM Yadav issued show-cause notices to Indore Municipal Commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav and Additional Commissioner Rohit Sisonia. He immediately transferred the latter.
Pradeep Nigam, In-charge Superintendent Engineer of the Water Distribution Department, was also suspended.
Administrative Measures
CM Yadav further instructed that vacant positions in the Indore Municipal Corporation be filled without delay.
He reviewed actions taken so far with Chief Secretary Anurag Jain and other senior officials, including those from the Public Health and Family Welfare Department. Officials also based directives on a detailed report presented by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Urban Development Department.

Friday’s bulletin from the Indore Health Department reported 208 patients admitted across hospitals, with 27 in ICUs. Meanwhile, 101 patients were discharged the same day.
Authorities continue monitoring the situation closely to ensure public safety and prevent further health hazards.
Upcoming discussions will evaluate challenges within the state’s civic systems and implement measures to strengthen water safety and emergency response.
CM Yadav emphasised the need for strict accountability and continuous monitoring to protect citizens from similar crises in the future.
