Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday praised President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the nation on the eve of the 80th Independence Day, saying her thoughts reflected the strength of the country and aspirations of its citizens.
In a social media post, PM Modi described the President’s address as motivating and thoughtful and said her message would inspire people to work with renewed determination towards building a Viksit Bharat.

During her address, President Murmu highlighted India’s rapid and inclusive economic growth over the past decade despite global uncertainties and called for collective efforts to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat@2047.
The President highlighted Union government welfare schemes focused on women, youth, the poor and farmers, while referring to recent paper leak incidents. She assured young people that efforts were being made to curb irregularities and ensure greater transparency in the examination system.
President Murmu said India had progressed rapidly over the past 10 years by harmonising development with its cultural heritage and called upon citizens to contribute towards making the country a global leader.
The President highlighted infrastructure development, saying it had attracted investment and created employment opportunities, while India had entered into free trade agreements with other countries. She noted that young people had driven the country’s startup ecosystem, with 65 per cent of the population below the age of 35.
President Murmu highlighted social welfare achievements, saying more than 25 crore people had moved out of poverty.
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana had connected nearly 59 crore account holders to the banking system, including more than 32 crore women.
President Murmu further pointed to the empowerment of women and said the women’s reservation law was increasing their participation in politics and strengthening democracy.
