A 45-year-old woman who was in an illegitimate relationship with her neighbour killed her 8-year-old son when he spotted them together, said the police on Wednesday. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Anil Kumar Yadav, consequent to the child’s murder, four people including the mother and her partner have been apprehended.
The woman has been identified as Bhuri. Her 53-year-old illicit partner, who resided in Greater Noida and worked as a keyman in the railways was recognized as Ompal Singh. The mother disposed of the child in a water body after poisoning him.
Among the detained was Manak, Bhuri’s brother-in-law for aiding in dumping the body. The fourth one was Amar Singh, the child’s step-sister’s father-in-law, for playing a part in concealing the boy’s body.
After the boy’s disappearance, his father, Kalyan, who had had no inkling of his wife’s extramarital affair, filed for a missing person’s report on July 2. The official added that the FIR was lodged at the local Badalpur Police Station on July 5.
Subsequently, the body was discovered on July 7 in Sambhal District. The post-mortem report indicated the cause of death as “drowning.” Kalyan informed the police that Sambhal was their native place.
According to officials, the mother and her partner decided to eliminate the child out of fear that he would expose their secret, which would bring disgrace to their families and community.
The child went missing on July 2, and Bhuri was aware that he was staying at his step-sister’s house. On July 6, she went to the house, took him with her, and administered sulfas poison to him. Amar Singh, concerned about potential legal consequences arising from the child’s attempted murder at his residence, reached out to Manak for assistance in disposing of the boy.
All four individuals involved confessed to conspiring together when questioned by the police, with Ompal and Bhuri identified as the primary planners. The initial FIR was lodged under IPC Section 363 (missing person), and later, additional sections 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 34 (Act done by several people with common intention), and 506 (criminal intimidation) were added to the case.
The accused were presented in a local court on Wednesday and subsequently remanded to judicial custody, as confirmed by the police.
