MoS Home Nityanand Rai Replies To Questions, Addresses Vacancies In BSF Including Others

MoS Home Nityanand Rai on Wednesday provided answers to various question asked in Parliament including vacancies in BSF, lives lost by security personnel and Implementation of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act.

On Vacancies in security forces, in a written reply to the unstarred question number 1022  in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs informed about 10,145 vacancies in BSF.

There are 10,145 vacancies in Border Security Force (BSF) as of 01.07.2024. While 7372 new posts created in BSF in the last five years. Further. The written reply further mentioned that 54,760 personnel have been recruited in BSF in last five years.

Notably the schedule for answer to be provided was on 31, July 2024.

Additionally, responding to another parliamentarian question, Rai provided written answer. The asked question inquired about the number of the security personnel who lost their lives on duty.

To the question, written reply read, A total of 2,463 security personnel from Central Armed Police Force and Assam Rifles lost their lives on duty in between 2021 and 2023. Of them, 112 died in action while 2,351 died on duty (excluding killed in action).

Further more the reply also  mentioned the assistance provided to the next of kins of martyred.  The reply informed that the benefits provided to the families/ Next of Kins (NoKs) of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) & Assam Rifles (AR) personnel who sacrifice their lives for nation, inter-alia, include:- The Central ex-gratia Iump-sum compensation has been enhanced from Rs. 15 lakh to Rs. 35 lakh for death on active duty and from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 25 lakh for death on duty, as the case may be, to the NoK of the deceased CAPF & AR personnel.

MoS Nityanand Rai addressed a question on Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014.

The written response elaborated, a large number of provisions of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (APR) Act, 2014 have been implemented. The remaining provisions of the Act are at various stages of implementation. The Ministry of Home Affairs reviews the progress of implementation of the various the provisions of act from time to time with Ministries/Departments concerned as well as of representatives Government of Andhra Pradesh and Government of Telangana. So far, 34 such review meetings have been held.
