Parliament monsoon session: NDA, oppositions conduct separate meets to strategize next steps
The opposition and the Centre held separate meetings on Tuesday to strategize their next moves as the Manipur dispute continues to hinder the monsoon session of Parliament.
Tuesday morning saw the start of a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentary party meeting to plan the party’s approach to the Lok Sabha’s Monsoon Session. Among those spotted arriving for the 9:30 am meeting were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishanaw.
The purpose of the gathering was to consult with party MPs on important organizational issues. In the Rajya Sabha LoP house of Parliament, like-minded opposition floor leaders met to discuss their strategy for today. Later, they declared that they would keep pressing for the Prime Minister’s Manipur statement in both Houses.

Demand for the statement of PM

Due to the demand of opposition for the statement by PM on violence in Manipur Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were adjourned on Monday. The first two days of the monsoon session last week saw a similar ruckus leading to nearly zero functioning of Parliament.
Before the Upper House goes into session significantly the members of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) will meet today at the office of Congress national president and the Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge to chalk out a floor management strategy
The Monsoon Session, which started on July 20 and had a lengthy agenda of legislative business, has been adjourned numerous times due to protests, sloganeering, and commotion from members of the newly formed grand Opposition alliance over their demand for a statement from PM Modi regarding the Manipur situation.
After Union Home Minister Amit Shah faced constant disturbance and heckling from the Opposition benches on Monday, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till Tuesday even as he insisted that the Centre was ready for a discussion on Manipur. The scenes Upper house witnessed after the suspension of Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh were stormy. The MP was suspended for the entire session.
