At least ten individuals have been apprehended following the suspected mob lynching incident involving a 24-year-old migrant worker in Kerala’s Muvattupuzha two days ago.
The victim, identified as Asok Das from Arunachal Pradesh, had ventured to the southern state in pursuit of employment opportunities and was residing in a rented accommodation in Valakam, Muvattupuzha.
Allegedly, he caused a disturbance outside the residence of a former female colleague near Valakom junction on Thursday night. Subsequently, a group detained him, tied him to a pole, and subjected him to interrogation. While reports indicate that the mob also assaulted him, residents have refuted such claims.
Locals discovered him in a state of distress and alerted law enforcement authorities. Initially treated at a nearby medical facility, he was later transferred to Kolencherry Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday, as per the FIR.
The post-mortem examination revealed that the cause of his demise was blunt force trauma to the head and chest.
