On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi voiced deep sorrow over the fatal road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district. He said he was anguished by the loss of lives and extended sympathies to the bereaved families.
Taking to X, the Prime Minister’s Office posted, “Deeply anguished by the loss of lives due to the mishap in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for the quick recovery of the injured.”
“An ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each of those who lost their lives in the tragic mishap. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000,” the post further read.

The tragedy unfolded on Wednesday evening at about 8:20 PM near Drummondganj, when a truck crashed into several vehicles, including a car, a Bolero and a trailer.
The collision triggered a blaze in an SUV, leaving nine passengers trapped inside. Police said all nine died after the vehicle caught fire.
Overall, 11 people were killed in the crash.
Officials are continuing their probe to establish the circumstances that led to the accident.
