BSP chief Mayawati on Monday expelled her nephew, Akash Anand, from the party. She said the decision was in the “interest of the party.” This followed a high-level meeting where she reviewed leadership and made structural changes to strengthen BSP nationwide.
Mayawati announced on X that Akash lost all responsibilities, including National Coordinator. She accused him of staying under the influence of his expelled father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth. She said he lacked political maturity and showed arrogance instead of regret.

“He was expected to show maturity and regret. Instead, his response was arrogant, selfish, and non-missionary,” she wrote.
She stressed that BSP maintains strict discipline and does not tolerate self-centered behavior.
Commitment to Party Ideals
Mayawati said she took this step to uphold “the self-respect movement of Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Kanshiram’s discipline.” She reaffirmed that she would not appoint a successor during her lifetime.
She appointed her brother, Anand Kumar, and senior leader, Ramji Gautam, as national coordinators. They will now oversee party affairs.
Major Shift In BSP Leadership Following Akash Anand Expulsion
Political analysts see this as a major shift in BSP’s internal dynamics. The decision reinforces Mayawati’s authority and signals her commitment to maintaining party discipline. The leadership reshuffle will likely shape BSP’s future strategy, with observers closely watching how the party adapts to these changes.
