Mayawati Expels MP Danish Ali, Target of Parliament Abuse, Citing Anti-Party Activity
Lok Sabha MP Danish Ali, previously subjected to abuse by a BJP leader on the parliamentary floor a few months ago, now faces expulsion from Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). The party cites “anti-party activity” as the grounds for this decision, stating in a released statement, “You were warned many times against statements or actions against the policies, ideology, and discipline of the party. But, despite that, you have continuously been acting against the party.”

The BJP MP responsible for the objectionable remarks against Ali, Ramesh Bidhuri, prompted Ali to seek support from prominent Opposition leaders, engaging in discussions and even staging a one-man protest outside Parliament. His protest aimed at demanding justice for Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra, who had recently been expelled from Lok Sabha.

During his solo demonstration, Ali prominently displayed a placard around his neck bearing the words “don’t turn (the) victim into (the) culprit.” He expressed his dismay, stating, “Decorum in Parliament died in September… it was bombed when Ramesh Bidhuri made those comments. And now they are saying this? Today, (Mahatma) Gandhi and Ambedkar are crying,” highlighting the erosion of parliamentary decorum following the incident involving Bidhuri’s offensive remarks. The developments reflect the broader context of political tensions and dissent within the Lok Sabha.
