A major fire broke out at Lokbandhu Hospital in Lucknow late Monday night, forcing the emergency evacuation of more than 200 patients to other hospitals across the city.
Swift action from firefighters, hospital staff, and rescue teams helped contain the crisis, though one fatality has been reported.
The blaze reportedly ignited on the second floor around 10 p.m., quickly engulfing parts of the building before patients and staff could fully grasp the situation.
Hospital authorities suspect a short circuit may have triggered the fire.
As a precaution, the electricity supply was cut off immediately, and firefighting teams operated using backup generators.
Emergency Response And Rescue Efforts
Upon receiving the alert, multiple fire brigade units rushed to the hospital, joined by officers from the Krishna Nagar police station.
After several intense hours, firefighters managed to bring the situation under control.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak visited the hospital shortly after the incident.

He confirmed that approximately 200 patients had been relocated to nearby medical facilities, including King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Balrampur Hospital, and Civil Hospital.
Critical patients were transferred to the ICU at KGMU, while others were safely accommodated in general wards.
Unfortunately, one patient among the 24 transferred to Civil Hospital was declared dead.
However, according to a doctor at Civil Hospital, the remaining patients are in stable condition.
Hospital Staff Lauded For Swift Action
Despite the chaos and panic triggered by the sudden fire, hospital staff acted with remarkable speed and coordination.
Doctors, nurses, security personnel, and attendants worked together to ensure a smooth evacuation.
Dr Ajay Shankar Tripathi, Medical Superintendent of Lokbandhu Hospital, confirmed that all patients had been safely moved out of the building. And the situation was now completely under control.
CM Takes Immediate Action
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was promptly informed of the incident.
According to Information Director Shishir Singh, the CM instructed senior officials to reach the site without delay and oversee the rescue and medical arrangements.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of all affected individuals.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the fire while emergency services remain on high alert.
