Massive Fire Engulfs Mumbai’s Baiganwadi Area, Damaging 15 Shops and Houses

Although efforts were made to contain the fire, the exact cause remains unknown and is under investigation.

In the early hours of the morning, a devastating fire broke through the Baiganwadi area of Govandi, Mumbai, causing extensive damage to approximately 15 shops and houses. The blaze, which started around 4 am, resulted in no reported injuries as residents scrambled to extinguish the flames using buckets of water.

According to officials, the fire primarily affected around 15 commercial units on the ground floor, known as galas, along with several residences on the first floor. The inferno consumed various materials including electric wiring, household items, AC and plastic sheets, LPG cylinders, wooden planks, and furniture.

Although efforts were made to contain the fire, the exact cause remains unknown and is under investigation. This incident follows closely on the heels of another fire earlier in the week, where over 20 two-wheelers were damaged in an open parking lot in suburban Borivali, underscoring the pressing need for enhanced fire safety measures in the city.
