The Secretary of Markazi Taleemi Board (MTB), Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Syed Tanveer Ahmed has demanded an investigation into the alleged irregularities in NEET exam.
In a statement to the media, the MTB Secretary said, “We are extremely concerned over the allegations and controversies surrounding the NEET (UG) 2024 examination. The initial evidence and prima facie reports suggest significant irregularities and failure by the National Testing Agency (NTA) while conducting the NEET (UG) 2024 exam. Allegations of paper leaks are serious and require a thorough investigation to uncover the truth and ensure the integrity of the examination process. Low qualification scores, an unprecedented spike in perfect scores, and a suspicious concentration of top scorers at a single center in Haryana suggest significant irregularities. The entire episode casts serious aspersions on the fairness and integrity of the exam process, which the NTA and the government must address. The NEET crisis has caused considerable stress for students and has severely eroded their confidence in the examination system. We welcome the Supreme Court’s decision to admit students petitions and expect fair and speedy trial in this matter.

Syed Tanveer Ahmed said, “Markazi Taleemi Board demands that the government should consider conducting decentralized exams through state governments instead of centralized exams for lakhs of students, which could help mitigate issues related to administration and fairness. Rather than defending the National Testing Agency (NTA) without a detailed investigation, the government should prioritize an impartial inquiry into these allegations. An independent audit should be conducted to ensure complete transparency and to restore trust and integrity in the NEET (UG) 2024 examination process. Other confidence-building measures must be taken to restore the faith of the student fraternity and maintain the credibility of the examination system. Those found responsible for these irregularities and malpractices should be held accountable and punished appropriately. The Markazi Taleemi Board urges the government and the NTA to take these concerns seriously and to act swiftly to address the discrepancies and restore the confidence of students and parents in the examination system.
