Veteran investor Mark Mobius voiced his admiration for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing his unique diplomatic abilities and calling him a deserving candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. In a conversation with news agency IANS on Tuesday, the 88-year-old investor highlighted Modi’s potential as a global peacemaker, particularly in conflict-ridden regions like West Asia and in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Mobius emphasized PM Modi’s capability to connect with various political factions across the world, calling him a “great leader and a good human being.” He noted that Modi’s influence on the global stage is likely to grow, underscoring his skill in navigating complex international dynamics. “In this turbulent world, Prime Minister Modi can become a peacemaker,” Mobius stated, adding that the Indian leader’s role as a mediator could become increasingly significant.
Mobius further argued that Modi’s diplomatic neutrality—especially India’s position in the Russia-Ukraine crisis—highlights his suitability as a mediator on the world stage. “India has the ability to remain neutral with all countries,” Mobius said, explaining that this balanced approach enhances India’s credibility as a global peace broker.

Modi’s efforts in promoting a peaceful resolution for the Russia-Ukraine war have underscored India’s commitment to neutrality, Mobius added. In August, PM Modi’s historic visit to Ukraine, the first by an Indian Prime Minister since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, further reinforced India’s active role in advocating for peace in the conflict zone.
When asked about any shared traits between himself and the Prime Minister, Mobius mentioned their forward-looking and optimistic outlooks. Both share a global vision grounded in optimism and resilience, he said, noting that this perspective aligns with the hope for a more peaceful future.
