Prime Minister Narendra Modi received an enthusiastic reception as he arrived in Ayodhya for the much-anticipated Dhwajarohan Utsav, marking the ceremonial hoisting of the sacred flag at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed him at the Saket College helipad, from where the Prime Minister began a vibrant roadshow towards the temple complex.
Additionally, large crowds lined the route, waving the Tricolour, BJP flags, and banners bearing symbols of Lord Ram. Chants of ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and ‘Modi-Modi’ filled the air as people showered flower petals on the Prime Minister’s convoy.
The atmosphere reflected the deep anticipation and emotion surrounding the historic moment, seen as a landmark in Ayodhya’s ongoing cultural transformation.
As part of his visit, PM Modi offered prayers at the Sapt Mandir located within the expansive Ram Temple complex.
These seven temples honour revered figures integral to Lord Rama’s legacy: Maharishi Vashistha, Maharishi Vishwamitra, Maharishi Agastya, Maharishi Valmiki, Goddess Ahalya, Nishadraj Guha, and Mata Shabari.
The Sapt Mandirs symbolically represent the gurus, companions, and devotees who shaped Lord Rama’s journey. Their presence, furthermore, within the temple complex underscores the holistic spiritual narrative of Ramayana traditions.
At around midday, the Prime Minister will participate in the Dhwajarohan ceremony, which marks the formal completion of the Ram Temple’s construction.
The event holds immense cultural and spiritual significance for millions of devotees across India and abroad.
The specially designed flag for the ceremony measures 22 feet by 11 feet.
Crafted by a parachute specialist from Ahmedabad, it weighs between 2 and 3 kilograms and is engineered to withstand high altitudes and strong winds atop the temple’s summit.
The Dhwajarohan Utsav represents yet another milestone in Ayodhya’s rapidly unfolding cultural renaissance.
Leaders have emphasised that the ceremony is not merely a religious observance but also a symbol of India’s enduring civilisational ethos and its deep-rooted spiritual heritage.
Moreover, as Ayodhya emerges as a global centre of Sanatan culture, PM Modi’s participation in the ceremony reinforces the city’s rising prominence and the profound national significance attached to the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.
