BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has strongly condemned the attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, describing the incident as unacceptable in a democratic setup.
In a post on X, he stated that those opposing Delhi’s progress were behind such attempts, but emphasised that they would not succeed in halting the government’s public outreach.
“Some people, who are enemies of Delhi, feel troubled because the Chief Minister of Delhi is now holding public hearings with such dedication,” Tiwari posted. “But such attacks cannot stop public hearings.”

Condemnation of Attack on Rekha Gupta
In a follow-up statement on the microblogging platform, Tiwari directly addressed the assault on the Chief Minister, terming it ‘highly condemnable’.
He underlined that violence has no place in a democracy and demanded exemplary punishment for those involved.
“The attack on the Honourable Chief Minister Mrs @gupta_rekha is highly condemnable. There is no place for such incidents in a democratic system,” he wrote. “ The strictest action should be taken against the accused, and they should receive the harshest punishment.”

Tiwari’s remarks reflect the BJP leadership’s growing concern over security threats faced by political figures and the need to safeguard democratic processes.
He, however, linked the attack with ongoing public hearings and emphasised that acts of violence or intimidation should not disrupt the Delhi government’s outreach initiatives.
His demand for strict action against the accused highlights a broader call for accountability and deterrence against such incidents, which risk undermining public faith in democratic institutions.
