Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised a group of women from Biaora in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district for turning plastic waste into a symbol of cleanliness and sustainability.
Speaking during the 135th episode of Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi said their initiative demonstrated how community participation and innovative thinking can transform environmental challenges into opportunities.
The Prime Minister urged citizens to recognise the efforts of those who work to keep villages and cities clean.
PM Modi said the women of Biaora transformed discarded plastic into useful infrastructure, including a bridge, before expanding the initiative to beautify parks and public spaces. He said their efforts turned plastic waste into valuable community assets while promoting cleanliness and environmental conservation.
Commending the women for their dedication, the Prime Minister said they had turned an environmental challenge into an opportunity for civic pride while encouraging greater public participation in cleanliness drives.
Their work has also strengthened awareness about responsible waste management and sustainable living.
The initiative reflects the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by promoting cleanliness, recycling, women’s empowerment and sustainable development. It has also drawn support from local authorities, who are considering replicating the model in neighbouring areas.
PM Modi said the inspiring efforts of the women from Rajgarh show how small community-led initiatives can create lasting social and environmental impact. He urged people across the country to draw inspiration from such examples and contribute towards building cleaner and more sustainable communities.
