On Saturday, the authorities in Imphal West District have re-imposed a curfew from 4:30 PM, due to the escalating law and order situation in the region.
This decision has effectively cancelled the previous relaxation of the curfew, which had been in place from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM on 16 November 2024. The new curfew will remain in effect until further notice.
Meanwhile, the authorities will allow people working in essential services, such as healthcare, to move freely during the curfew.

The order, issued by Th Kirankumar, the District Magistrate of Imphal West, stated, “Now, due to the developing law and order situation in the district, the above-mentioned curfew relaxation order stands cancelled with immediate effect, i.e., from 4:30 pm on November 16, 2024. Total curfew is imposed with effect from 4:30 pm on November 16, 2024, until further orders.”
The order further stated that individuals working in essential services, including healthcare, electricity, food and civil supplies, public health engineering, petrol stations, municipal services, press and electronic media, and court operations, will be exempt from the curfew.
Additionally, the order also allows flight passengers traveling to and from the airport, along with contractors and workers holding a valid Airport Entry Permit (AEP), to move freely.
