TMCP Foundation Day Amid Tensions: Kolkata Event Coincides With BJP Strike Over Police Actions
The TMCP Foundation Day celebrations in Kolkata, which include a large gathering where the Chief Minister is to speak, come at a time of heightened tensions in the state.
The event however coincides with a 12-hour general strike called by the BJP, protesting police actions during the ‘Nabanna Abhijan’ rally held the previous day.
In response to the rape and murder case that sparked widespread outrage, they organized the rally.
Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken charge of the investigation into the heinous crime following a directive from the Calcutta High Court.
The agency is also probing alleged financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College, with some sources suggesting a possible link between these irregularities and the tragic incident.
As West Bengal grapples with these unfolding events, Banerjee’s call for social responsibility and justice serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges that lie ahead.
