Dhanadhanyo Auditorium
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday inaugurated the Dhanadhanyo Auditorium in Kolkata’s Alipore neighborhood. It cost Rs 440 crore to construct.
It is a present for the city ahead of Poila Baisakh (Bengali New Year’s Day) on April 15, according to the West Bengal administration.
West Bengal Chief Minister tweeted, “A proud moment as we inaugurate the Dhanadhanyo Auditorium, a state-of-the-art indoor facility built at a cost of ₹440 Crore. My sincere appreciation to the PWD for making this dream project a reality. This modern marvel is a symbol of progress and development in our state”, through her official Twitter handle.
Banerjee gave the auditorium its name when she lay the foundation stone for it.
West Bengal Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation (Hidco) are responsible for the upkeep of Dhanadhanyo Auditorium. The agency has also launched a tender for a number of projects to be completed there.
According to a state government release, the structure is 510 feet long and 210 feet wide, with six stories.
The auditorium contains two halls, one with a larger seating capacity of 2,000 people and the other with a seating capacity of 540 people.
The auditorium will also have a dining hall, a food court, and parking for hundreds of cars.
Dhanadhanyo Auditorium construction began in December 2017. It was supposed to be finished in 40 months, however, construction was delayed owing to COVID-19.
