Officials from the Income Tax department are conducting searches at Telangana Labour Minister Ch Malla Reddy’s homes, offices, and son and son-in-colleges law’s in Hyderabad.
The minister, his son Mahender Reddy, son-in-law Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, and other individuals’ homes in the districts of Hyderabad and Medchal Malkajgiri were simultaneously searched by the IT teams.
The searches, which included the Palm Meadows villas in Kompally, started early on Tuesday morning with the help of about 50 teams from the IT department’s tax evasion division.
Rajasekhar Reddy, a member of the ruling TRS party, ran for office in Malkajgiri. He oversees a number of institutions in suburban areas of Hyderabad. Rajasekhar Reddy reportedly invested in the Hyderabad real estate market.

The searches, which included the Palm Meadows villas in Kompally, started early on Tuesday morning with the help of about 50 teams from the IT department’s tax evasion division.
It was estimated that between 150 and 170 cops were involved in the concurrent searches. Due to concerns of tax cheating, they were looking through the financial records of the institutions managed by the Malla Reddy Group.
A hospital, an engineering college, a medical college, and other educational institutions are all managed by the Malla Reddy Group.
The offices and homes of the institutions’ top leaders were also being searched by the IT teams. It’s probable that the searches will go on all day Tuesday.
It’s interesting that the IT raids took place at a time when the Telangana Special Inquiry Team (SIT) has stepped up its investigation into an MLA poaching case that may have included top Bharat Janata Party figures (BJP).
When they were attempting to persuade four Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs to change their allegiance to the BJP, three suspected BJP agents were apprehended last month from a farmhouse outside of Hyderabad. Two godmen are among the accused who are now being held in jail by the law.
The TRS MLAs claim they were given a Rs 250 crore deal to join the BJP. SIT has called four people, including BJP general secretary B. L. Santosh, for interrogation as part of the inquiry.
