Hema Committee Report

After a series of holidays, the Special Investigation Team (SIT), a team of four woman IAS officers, is set to meet today to investigate the Hema Committee report, which exposed the plight of women in the Malayalam film industry.

The team now has the unedited version of the report, which was released with several paragraphs censored. To ensure confidentiality, the report was divided among the team members, who are studying it in detail.

The SIT is under the watchful eye of a special bench of the Kerala High Court, which criticized the government for delaying its action. The Hema Committee report, submitted in December 2019, has sparked outrage and led to 11 FIRs against various film personalities.

The SIT’s actions will be closely monitored as they work to address the issues raised in the report and report back to the High Court next month.
