A prominent Malayalam actor, Nivin Pauly, has been accused of sexual assault by a resident of Neriamangalam. The complainant claims that Pauly assaulted her in Dubai in November 2023, under the pretense of offering her a movie role.
Legal Proceedings
The case has been officially registered in Ernakulam, Kerala, where Nivin Pauly and five others face non-bailable charges. The police have identified six accused in total, including Sreya, AK Sunil (a producer), Binu, Basheer, Kuttan, and Nivin Pauly.
Details of the Allegations
According to the complainant, she initially contacted Sreya for a caregiver job in Europe. When the job fell through, Sreya allegedly offered her a film role. The complainant claims she was drugged and sexually assaulted by all six accused during multiple incidents in Dubai last November.

Investigation and Industry Impact
The Special Investigation Team (SIT), established after the Hema Committee report on sexual misconduct in the film industry, has taken over the case. The SIT informed the Oonnukal police, leading to the registration of the case.

This case follows the Hema Committee report controversy, which has already led to significant changes within the Malayalam film industry, including the resignation of superstar Mohanlal from the AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) presidency and the removal of other members accused of harassment, including Siddique and actor-politician Mukesh. Additionally, legal cases have been filed against popular actors like Jayasurya.
