Atiq's Last words
While speaking with the media amidst high-level security, Atiq Ahmed was miserable and depressed. It was the very same day when his son Asad Ahmed was buried after his last rites that he couldn’t attend despite making all efforts and appeals.
When asked what did he have to say on not being taken to his son Asad’s funeral, he replied in an almost emotionless state – Nahi le gaye toh nahi gaye (they did not take us so we did not go). This was the same Atiq Ahmed who had more than a hundred criminal charges on him and who used to rule UP like no other mafia.
Answering the next question from the media, Atiq said, “Main baat yeh hai ki Guddu Muslim…” and his statement remained incomplete forever as he was killed at nearly point-blank range just after that.
Nobody would get to know what did the mafia want to say and for what did he mention Guddu Muslim. It would certainly remain to be a curiosity for people who wanted to learn more about the Umesh Pal murder case. What is evident tells a lot about the loopholes in the law & order of UP police.
Meanwhile, section 144 has been imposed in the state and a team of five doctors is conducting post mortem of Atiq and Ashraf Ahmed. Police are patrolling in Lucknow’s Husainabad, Mathura, and Mau for security checks after this incident.
